FRIDAY 10 APRIL – IBIZA WORLD HERITAGE SITE
Dramatized visits to Ibiza old town (Dalt Vila). Learn more about Ibiza in the Renaissance period with a dramatized visit to the city’s old town, making it a unique experience.
Dalt Vila, the historical old town of Ibiza with its pretty walled enclosure has been made a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
You will be guided by a group of actors through the emblematic sites of the old town as they recreate what life was like in medieval times, conjuring up a whole new perspective on the history of Ibiza.
The guides’ narratives and the actors’ dramatizations will transport you back in time to the 16th century to discover what life was like in the town at the time when the Renaissance style fortifications were built; their costumes, the intrigues, their love affairs and the intricacies of political and social life.
Children will have the chance to try on a suit of armour, imagine what it was like to be a knight in that period, and see the cannons that defended the walled enclosure.
SATURDAY 11 APRIL –TRIP TO SANTA EULARIA RIVER
Santa Eularia is located in the eastern part of the island of Ibiza and occupies more than 2/3 of the coast. It is the second largest municipality on the island in terms of inhabitants after the capital of Ibiza Town.
It covers an area of 153.48 square kilometres and has a population of around 31,314* inhabitants who live in the area all year round.
The Santa Eularia River Walk takes you through the town and follows a stretch of the river, highlighting the area’s cultural and natural attractions as well as local historical heritage sites. It stresses the importance of the only river on the Balearic Islands, along which life in the village of Santa Eularia developed up until the 20th century.
This is a guided visit that takes in the major sites of the municipality; buildings constructed in the traditional Ibizan architectural style, such as the town hall, and an air-raid shelter built underneath the square where it is located in 1937 during the Spanish Civil War; the Can Planetes windmill, the ‘Molí de dalt’ which functions today as the River Visitor Centre and a traditional farmhouse with a water-wheel, and the old Bridge, where legend has it that the devil himself was involved in its construction. Here, visitors will receive a free gift of the legend. At the Ethnological Museum, housed in an typical old rustic farmhouse, there are antique items of traditional Ibizan culture, and nearby, one of the prettiest churches on the island, called Puig de Missa.
While the adults enjoy this trip, the children will enjoy an adventure in the search for the “fameliars”, a small mythological ugly-looking fantasy goblin with a large head, a big mouth and a terrifying roar, that can only be found on the islands of Ibiza and Formentera.
SUNDAY 12 APRIL – BOAT TRIP TO THE COAST OF SANT ANTONI DE PORTMANY
A trip by boat to admire the gorgeous views and the best beaches on the island. If Ibiza is spectacular, the area to the north of Sant Antoni as seen from the sea is stunning, with some of the best coves and caves worthy of an adventure story. We believe this is a one of a kind excursion that nobody should miss. You will not fail to be impressed.
